Maria CoelTeacher, Math 6-12
Maria Coel was born in Russia, in the city of Yoshkar-Ola in 1975. Her parents were both university educated. Her mother was a Physics teacher and her father was a building engineer. She is the oldest of two children. She attended the local grade school #8 and then School #3. She graduated from school in 1993 and was accepted to Krupskaya Teacher Training Institute. In 1998 She graduated with a diploma to teach of English and German Languages ( as second languages).
Coel worked first in grade school #14 and #8 and then at the Gorky Technical University as a teacher of English. In October of 2000, she came to the United States to live Lakeport, California. She worked first as a volunteer at the Literacy Program and as a Special Education Para educator. After her older son was born in 2003, she stayed home for a number of years. At that time, they moved to Lower Lake, California. Her daughter was born in 2005. When her children went to school, she became a parent volunteer at Riviera Elementary school and then a substitute teacher.
Later, she applied to Dominican University of California and was accepted to the teacher credentialing program. I worked in local schools as a teacher and a substitute teacher. I received my credential in 2015. Her family moved to Stockton to start work in Langston Hughes Academy.
