Shannon La Barber

Teacher, Art K-8

Bio

From as far back as teacher Shannon LaBarber can remember, she wanted to work with kids. As a little girl if you asked her, what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would tell you she wanted to have my own daycare center!

By the time she got to college, she had my heart set on a creative path. She perused a few different majors from visual merchandising to interior design. When she decided on majoring in Art at Sacramento State, she found out that the Art department had an art education focus. That was perfect for her! She would become an Art Teacher and share her love for art with her students.

As a teacher she wants to expose her students to a variety of art mediums, techniques and famous artists to help them develop a better appreciation for art. She wants them to learn ways of becoming better artists themselves. Most importantly, she wants her students to become more creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers. These are skills that will not only help them in college, but also in their careers and the rest of their lives.

In her time away from school, she likes to enjoy time with her family. She has a husband and three awesome kids. Her favorite thing to do is vacation at the beach. She also loves to garden and be creative around her house.
