Teacher, Drama

Bio

Jody Sampley has been teaching since 1984 (elementary and secondary levels) and involved with theater arts since she was in 7th grade. Sampley’s directing debut was as a high school student; she has continued to hone her craft both on the stage and behind the scenes in elementary/secondary schools, community arts programs, and college, church, community and regional theater productions through the years.

In 1992, Sampley was invited to join a team of educators and administrators in establishing an arts magnet school in Vista, CA. Working as a grant writer and artist-in-residence programs coordinator, educator and for a time overseeing numerous productions in the Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts campus theater,  Sampley continued to direct student productions until taking a leave to pursue a masters degree at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in 2000.

Returning to CA to teach for Aspire Public Schools in 2004, Sampley was quick to say yes when asked to launch a drama department at Aspire Langston Hughes Academy in 2015. Now in its third official year (unofficial, 4th), Titan Drama’s catalog has expanded to include Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Drama UC-approved A-G courses along with Middle School Drama Exploration elective classes. In the 2017-2018 school year, Titan Drama has expanded to include an Introductory course in Digital Media Arts!
